About this character certificate template
A character certificate confirms that a student studied at an institution and kept good conduct. Universities ask for it at admission, and employers and government departments ask for it with job applications. It is issued on the institution's letterhead and signed by the principal or head of department. This template has the student's name and parent's name, class or programme, roll number, period of study, result, a conduct statement and an optional line for activities.
How to issue a character certificate
- 1
Download the Word file (or edit online) and add the institution's name, address and logo.
- 2
Fill in the student's name, parent's name, programme and roll or registration number.
- 3
Enter the years of study and the final result.
- 4
Keep or remove the optional activities line.
- 5
Print on letterhead, sign and stamp it.
Tips for character certificates
Match the records
Names and roll numbers must match the institution's register and the student's documents.
Keep a register
Give each certificate a reference number and keep a copy on file.
Add one achievement
A specific activity or award makes the certificate more useful to the student.
Sign and stamp
Unsigned or unstamped certificates are usually not accepted.
