Frequently Asked Questions
Which countries are covered?
The UK, Ireland, Europe (Europass), Germany, France, Portugal, the US, Canada, Australia, Dubai and the Gulf, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
Should my CV have a photo?
It depends on the country. Employers in the UK, US, Canada and Australia do not expect one. Photos are common in Germany, France and Southern Europe. Each template page explains what is expected in that country.
Which format should I use if I am applying abroad?
Use the format of the country where the job is, not the one you are applying from. For applications across several EU countries, the Europass CV is a widely recognised starting point.
Is a resume the same as a CV?
In the US and Canada, "resume" is the usual word and the document is normally one page. Elsewhere it is called a CV. The US Resume and Canadian Resume templates follow the North American format.
