About this australian resume template
Australians say "resume", use A4 paper, and usually leave out photos and personal details. Two things set an Australian resume apart: a section for professional registrations and checks (such as AHPRA, police checks or Working with Children Checks) and a referees section with the names and contact details of two people, usually former managers. The sample is for a registered nurse in Brisbane.
How to fill in this resume
- 1
Open it with "Edit online", or download the Word file.
- 2
Add your suburb, state and postcode, mobile, email and LinkedIn.
- 3
Write a 3–4 line career summary aimed at the role you want.
- 4
List registrations, licences and checks with numbers and expiry dates, then your experience with results.
- 5
Ask two referees for permission and add their details, then save as PDF.
Tips for an Australian resume
Ask referees first
Always ask before listing someone, and tell them which jobs you have applied for.
Show your work rights
If you are on a visa, state your visa type and work rights so employers don't have to ask.
Keep checks current
For health, education and care roles, current registrations and checks can decide a shortlist.
Use Australian spelling
"Organise", "colour", "licence". Set your spell-checker to English (Australia).
