Image to DXF Converter — PNG & JPG to DXF Online

Trace logos into closed DXF outlines, with each colour on its own layer

Turn a PNG, JPG, WebP or BMP image into a DXF file of closed vector outlines for laser cutting, CNC, vinyl cutting and CAD. Keep the colours — each main colour goes on its own DXF layer in that colour — or trace everything as one outline. Shapes are traced with Potrace, scaled to the width you choose in millimetres, and previewed before you download. Works best on logos, silhouettes, signatures and line art. Free, no signup, images up to 50 MB.

Frequently Asked Questions

Images with clear, solid shapes: logos, silhouettes, icons, signatures, stencils and line art. Photos don't trace well, because the tool turns the image into flat outlines rather than shading. The larger the image, the more fine detail survives.
Yes. Coordinates are in millimetres and the file is marked as metric. Enter the width you want; the height follows the image's proportions. If you leave the width empty, one pixel becomes one millimetre.
Yes. Every shape is a closed polyline, including holes such as the inside of an O, so the file is ready for cutting.
Keep colours puts each colour on its own layer; Single colour traces one outline. Threshold sets how much of each shape's soft edge is kept — higher makes shapes thicker. Invert (single colour) traces light shapes on a dark background. Remove specks ignores tiny dots, and corner smoothing goes from sharp corners to smooth curves.
Yes. With Keep colours, the tool finds the image's main colours (up to the number you choose), leaves out the background, and puts each colour on its own DXF layer in that colour — handy for laser software that maps layers to different cuts or engraves. Blurry edges between colours go to the nearest colour, so very thin lines in small images can disappear.
Your image is traced on our server, and the temporary files are deleted as soon as the DXF is sent back.
